Are SIMPLE Roth IRA contributions tax-deductible?

No. SIMPLE Roth IRA contributions are not tax-deductible because they are made with after-tax dollars. The contribution amount is included in your taxable income for the year and does not reduce your current tax bill.

The benefit of Roth treatment is realized later. If IRS requirements are met, qualified withdrawals in retirement can be taken tax-free, including both contributions and earnings.

If an employer elects to treat matching or nonelective contributions as Roth under SECURE 2.0 rules, those contributions are generally included in taxable income in the year they are made and must be fully vested.
