Will IRA beneficiaries see any changes in 2026?
No new rules take effect in 2026, but SECURE 2.0 did clarify a few prior rules:
- The 10-year rule still applies to most non-spouse beneficiaries — they must fully withdraw inherited IRAs within 10 years of the original owner's death.
- Spouse beneficiaries can still treat inherited IRAs as their own or delay withdrawals until the original owner would have turned RMD age.
